Low back pain may be present along with the leg pain, but generally the lower back pain is less severe than the leg pain. Symptoms start to occur when the large sciatic nerve is irritated. Being the largest single nerve in the body, the sciatic nerve is composed of individual nerve roots that start branching out from the spine in the lower back, and combine to form the "sciatic nerve". Sciatica symptoms (leg pain, numbness, lower back pain, weakness, tingling) are different depending on where the pressure occurs on the nerve. |
